Abstract
Le propos de Madeleine Ouellette-Michalska dans deux essais majeurs, L'échappée des discours de l'oeil et L'amour de la carte postale. Impérialisme culturel et différence, n'a rien perdu de sa brûlante actualité. Le féminisme modéré du premier s'enrichit, dans le second, de plusieurs autres manifestations capitales de la suprématie du centre sur la périphérie. Mais c'est sur l'écriture de l'essai dans ces deux livres que l'auteur du présent essai critique a voulu mettre l'accent, une écriture où il est resté quelque chose de cérébral, de froid, de compassé parfois, bref une certaine distance qui empêche l'énonciatrice de devenir pleinement le sujet de ses propres textes. En revanche, dans un autre essai déguisé en journal, elle réussit à trouver le ton en cédant à La tentation de dire.
