Abstract

Cet article propose un cheminement interprétatif de l’expression de la question identitaire dans les films québécois récents, en montrant comment l’identité est mobilisée par les cinéastes. Deux récits structurent de façon fondamentale l’imaginaire filmique québécois : un récit hégémonique du manque, du vide, récit tragique de l’empêchement d’être, et un récit de la pluralité, de l’ambivalence assumée positivement, récit de l’enchantement d’être. L’originalité et la richesse du cinéma québécois résident justement dans la tension entre les deux récits qui parcourt cette cinématographie, des premiers films aux plus récentes productions. Nous serons ainsi en mesure de proposer quelques éléments de réflexion concernant les liens qui s’établissent, au Québec, entre l’identité, le politique et les références temporelles.
