Abstract
Résumé Cette recherche, basée sur le cadre théorique de la psychodynamique du travail, propose de cerner la façon dont les pompiers préservent leur équilibre psychique malgré la dangerosité de leur métier. Cette étude, qui s’est déroulée auprès de pompiers permanents québécois en milieu urbain, s’attarde tout d’abord sur la façon dont ils réinvestissent le temps passé à la caserne entre les alarmes, met ensuite en lumière la relation qu’ils entretiennent avec le feu lors des interventions, et aborde quelques éléments de réflexion liés à l’acceptation à laquelle semblent consentir les pompiers de risquer leur vie pour leurs collègues ou les citoyens.
