Abstract
Les composantes des dépôts des particuliers évoluent très différemment au Québec et en Ontario. Alors que les comptes à intérêt progressif non transférables par chèques connaissent une poussée fulgurante en Ontario depuis leur introduction, ils retiennent beaucoup moins la faveur des Québécois. Ces derniers ont toujours favorisé davantage les dépôts à terme fixe. Des variables institutionnelles, tels la présence prépondérante des caisses populaires au Québec et le retard des banques québécoises au plan des innovations, expliquent pour beaucoup cet état de fait. Le présent article propose un modèle des dépôts des particuliers de nature à jeter davantage de lumière sur le comportement différent des dépôts des particuliers au Québec et en Ontario.
