Abstract
Les Centres d’hébergement et de réinsertion sociale (CHRS) ont pour vocation en France d’accueillir toute personne en détresse qui correspond aux critères définis par la loi. Face à une demande accrue, certaines personnes sont écartées des dispositifs d’insertion sociale et sont renvoyées vers des dispositifs d’urgence ou caritatifs. Nous montrerons que les travailleurs sociaux utilisent inconsciemment des critères intrasubjectifs pour élaborer un choix entre les demandeurs. L’utilisation de ces critères permettrait aux professionnels de contenir le paradoxe dans lequel les politiques sociales d’insertion les contraignent : devoir lutter contre les exclusions et participer aux processus d’exclusion de certaines catégories de personnes.
