Abstract
Résumé En ces temps de crise économique et parfois aussi de crise personnelle, devenir le successeur dans l’entreprise familiale peut constituer un enjeu pour des enfants qui s’étaient éloignés de celle-ci et n’avaient pas manifesté à ce jour d’intérêt pour elle. Cet article approfondit trois histoires d’enfants qui ont succédé à leurs parents alors qu’ils n’avaient jamais envisagé cette perspective. Ces successeurs inattendus justifient leur réorientation par deux facteurs : une occasion qui se présente alors même qu’ils se remettent en question sur le plan professionnel et une réorientation professionnelle qui accroît leur liberté d’action. Par la suite, nous abordons la façon dont les parents et les autres parties prenantes tendent à réagir face aux enfants successeurs inattendus et nous concluons avec des conseils visant à favoriser la réussite de ces successeurs.
