Abstract
L’intuition, la durée et la critique du possible : tels sont les grands concepts et les grandes thèses qui définissent le coeur de la pensée bergsonienne. Pour avoir tenu à dégager les conséquences qu’entraînent ces thèses dans des champs variés (l’épistémologie, les neurosciences, la métaphysique, la physique), bon nombre de commentateurs ont manqué de s’attarder à ce qui en est au plus près : les arguments qui les supportent et les faits qui les corroborent. En rédigeant ce qui suit, nous avons pris à rebours cette attitude des interprètes et avons essayé d’établir, tour à tour, si la méthode intuitive tient, si les caractères de la durée sont valables et si enfin la critique du possible n’appelle pas elle-même une critique. L’objectif général que nous nous sommes assigné alors est moins de démolir la doctrine bergsonienne que d’en cibler les branches qu’il reste à consolider.
