In this paper we use <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="upper A Subscript normal infinity"> <mml:semantics> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>A</mml:mi> <mml:mrow class="MJX-TeXAtom-ORD"> <mml:mi mathvariant="normal"> ∞ </mml:mi> </mml:mrow> </mml:msub> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">A_{\infty }</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> -modules to study the derived category of a finite dimensional algebra over an algebraically closed field. We study varieties parameterising <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="upper A Subscript normal infinity"> <mml:semantics> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>A</mml:mi> <mml:mrow class="MJX-TeXAtom-ORD"> <mml:mi mathvariant="normal"> ∞ </mml:mi> </mml:mrow> </mml:msub> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">A_{\infty }</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> -modules. These varieties carry an action of an algebraic group such that orbits correspond to quasi-isomorphism classes of complexes in the derived category. We describe orbit closures in these varieties, generalising a result of Zwara and Riedtmann for modules.
