Measurement of the Bottom-Strange Meson Mixing Phase in the Full CDF Data Set

Abstract
We report a measurement of the bottom-strange meson mixing phase ${\ensuremath{\beta}}_{s}$ using the time evolution of ${B}_{s}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}J/\ensuremath{\psi}(\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{\ensuremath{-}})\ensuremath{\phi}(\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}})$ decays in which the quark-flavor content of the bottom-strange meson is identified at production. This measurement uses the full data set of proton-antiproton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{TeV}$ collected by the Collider Detector experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron, corresponding to $9.6\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of integrated luminosity. We report confidence regions in the two-dimensional space of ${\ensuremath{\beta}}_{s}$ and the ${B}_{s}^{0}$ decay-width difference $\ensuremath{\Delta}{\ensuremath{\Gamma}}_{s}$ and measure ${\ensuremath{\beta}}_{s}\ensuremath{\in}[\ensuremath{-}\ensuremath{\pi}/2,\ensuremath{-}1.51]\ensuremath{\cup}[\ensuremath{-}0.06,0.30]\ensuremath{\cup}[1.26,\ensuremath{\pi}/2]$ at the 68% confidence level, in agreement with the standard model expectation. Assuming the standard model value of ${\ensuremath{\beta}}_{s}$, we also determine $\ensuremath{\Delta}{\ensuremath{\Gamma}}_{s}=0.068\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.026(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.009(\mathrm{syst})\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{ps}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ and the mean ${B}_{s}^{0}$ lifetime ${\ensuremath{\tau}}_{s}=1.528\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.019(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.009(\mathrm{syst})\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{ps}$, which are consistent and competitive with determinations by other experiments.
