À l’heure actuelle, la formule théâtre-cirque fait les beaux jours des nouveaux cirques. Au Québec cette formule n’est pourtant pas si nouvelle puisque les premiers cirques venus au Bas-Canada mêlaient déjà les deux genres. Bien entendu, les spectacles des cirques d’aujourd’hui sont loin d’être identiques à ceux d’autrefois, mais force nous est d’admettre que le métissage a subsisté. Rappelant l’histoire, cet article fait quelques rapprochements entre le théâtre et le cirque au Québec. Il révèle également que l’un et l’autre ont des orientations communes plus que jamais.
