Abstract
La démocratisation de l’enseignement au Québec a modifié considérablement le niveau de scolarisation de la population du Québec. Le taux de scolarisation, malgré ses nombreux avantages, ne permet pas de mesurer la fréquentation scolaire pour l’ensemble d'un cycle scolaire donné. Le « taux global de scolarisation » est un indicateur qui répond à cette exigence. Sa conception repose essentiellement sur la nécessité d’opposer à la clientèle d’un niveau scolaire donné une population de référence acceptable. Cet indice synthétique est appliqué au système scolaire québécois.
