La présente étude évalue les effets à court terme d’un programme d’intervention de type cognitif-comportemental visant à réduire les difficultés de comportement chez des adolescentes hébergées en centre jeunesse. L’évaluation vise aussi à vérifier si les effets du programme varient selon le degré auquel les adolescentes y participent et à mesurer la taille des effets observés. L’étude a été menée au moyen d’un devis de recherche quasi-expérimental. Le groupe expérimental est composé de 107 adolescentes et le groupe contrôle est formé de 77 adolescentes. Toutes ces adolescentes ont été placées dans des unités d’hébergement pour une période minimale de trois mois. Les résultats suggèrent un positionnement en faveur de l’application d’un programme de type cognitif-comportemental à des adolescentes en difficulté. La moitié des effets observés atteignent des seuils cliniques significatifs, surtout lorsque le degré de participation au programme est plus élevé, et deux autres effets témoignent d’une amorce de changement. Bien que les études évaluatives n’avaient pas encore démontré le caractère probant des programmes de type cognitif-comportemental destinés à des adolescentes en difficulté, la présente étude fait un pas dans cette direction.
