Ce travail analyse les formes de compromis et d’arrangements proposées par les managers du privé gérant des piscines publiques. Les épreuves que génère le changement de gestion conduisent au début à une stratégie d’exclusion des agents les plus récalcitrants. Ensuite, les managers s’attachent à « frayer » le compromis par la recherche d’un bien commun, le « service public marchand », rapprochant le monde marchand du secteur privé avec le monde civique du service public. L’intérêt commun visant à la satisfaction des usagers, une politique de développement d’un management de proximité autorise un métissage des valeurs avec le monde domestique.
