Cet article démontre que la structure transnationale de la capoeira, définie dans une dynamique de marchés, génère une nouvelle forme de « communauté affective ». Je fais appel au concept d’affect pour étudier comment le mouvement et le rythme partagés d’un entrainement de capoeira emportent les individus dans des dimensions inexplorées de leur corporéité. Cette expérience peut être vécue comme transcendante à la relation économique. Je suggère cependant qu’elle est plutôt ce qui permet à la capoeira de conquérir son marché. Les forces du capital s’introduisent dans la subjectivité et les espaces intimes et transforment les affects en valeur d’échange, un processus amplifié par le contexte d’économie de la différence culturelle où l’imaginaire du Brésil en encadre l’interprétation.
