Abstract
Nação Mestiça est un mouvement politique né des banlieues pauvres de Manaus, capitale de l’État d’Amazonie, en réaction aux politiques dites « ethno-raciales » qui se développent à l’échelle nationale depuis le début des années 2000. Dans l’objectif de restituer et comprendre le point de vue logique à partir duquel ses militants questionnent la démocratie brésilienne, l’article montre dans un premier temps comment Nação Mestiça défend le métissage dans le parfait contresens de la déconstruction idéologique par laquelle le concept s’est vu progressivement destitué de toute légitimité au plan politique national. Il sera ensuite argumenté que cette posture doit être comprise à partir d’une pragmatique de l’expérience métisse, dans laquelle s’inscrit une conception particulière des rapports entre métissage et démocratie. Il s’agira finalement de montrer comment le mouvement déplace le débat sur les politiques « affirmatives » en le re-territorialisant au sein de l’espace pratique des enjeux micro-locaux.
