Abstract
Résumé Le cas L’héritage de Gaston décrit une dynamique familiale au moment du passage de la première à la deuxième génération de dirigeants et de propriétaires. Une entreprise est dite «familiale» quand des membres d’une même famille, unis par le sang ou par alliance, en assument la direction et en détiennent la propriété. L’héritage de Gaston nous conduit justement dans l’intimité d’une entreprise familiale qui en est à une première expérience de transmission de la propriété. Le cas est ensuite analysé par des experts qui dégagent les enjeux et les facteurs de succès à considérer dans la gestion de la transmission d’une entreprise familiale. En outre, nous montrons qu’une planification prudente et rigoureuse est le meilleur gage de succès lorsque des enfants prennent la relève de leurs parents dirigeants. L’engagement très actif des deux groupes d’acteurs, tant les enfants que les parents, s’avère alors indispensable.
