Abstract
La religion est un produit de l’esprit humain qui doit être soumis à l’analyse rationnelle comme toute autre production idéologique ; l’adhésion à une religion est un geste volontaire qui engage la responsabilité du croyant ; les demandes d’accommodements religieux sont le lot de groupes fondamentalistes qui refusent les règles de base de la démocratie et qui poursuivent une ligne d’action politique ; plusieurs valeurs défendues par ces groupes religieux sont incompatibles avec les principes de la démocratie, notamment la laïcité de l’État et l’égalité des sexes ; l’enjeu étant politique, l’intervention doit être politique plutôt que juridique ; les visées religieuses intégristes obligent à un encadrement strict et cela nécessite sans doute d’amender les chartes.
