Abstract
Cet article traite, à partir d’un corpus de conversations à quatre personnes d’origine québécoise, dans une perspective d’analyse conversationnelle, de quelques moyens pour marquer l’opposition en conversation naturelle. Les résultats montrent que les participants (hommes, femmes) préfèrent se lancer sur une piste sécurisante quand il s’agit de s’opposer, cf. l’emploi de marqueurs qui ont l’air d’avoir un sens positif (wouin), et donner certaines explications avec des reprises, des répétitions... plutôt que d’énoncer un non trop catégorique et, par là-même, menaçant pour la « face » des divers participants et pour l’équilibre de la situation. Enfin, les participants préfèrent l’attente, le non-dit ou l’évitement plutôt que l’emploi d’un non catégorique menant à la confrontation.
