Abstract
Envisagées jusqu’ici comme discours sur la dualité de l’horizon d’attente en 1830 (roman de moeursvsroman frénétique), ou comme digressions d’auteur dans le style deJacques le fataliste, les suppressions que fit George Sand dans l’édition originale d’Indiana(1832) pour une réédition du roman en 1833 (éd. Gosselin) résolventa prioriun paradoxe que cherche à repousser le travail de réécriture : l’ambivalence générique de tout roman sur le Réel, où lamimesisvise à gommer lafabula. Ni l’édition Gosselin d’Indianani les rééditions ultérieures ne font par contre l’économie d’autres discours surcodés où lestopoiet les clichés romanesques trahissent la fictionnalité du roman, fragilisantipso factol’illusion référentielle mise en oeuvre dans le récit.
