Abstract
L'étude de l'évolution de l'emploi dans la région métropolitaine de recensement de Québec, entre 1971 et 1981, révèle que le phénomène de bipolarisation des structures professionnelles s'étend à plusieurs zones du territoire. À partir d'une analyse statistique, graphique et cartographique, la recherche met en parallèle les changements qui se sont produits dans les structures de l'emploi et dans l'activité économique (féminine et masculine) des différentes zones de travail. Sur cette base spatiale, la bipolarisation est principalement localisée dans les banlieues éloignées. Elle apparaît liée, d'une part, à la tertiarisation des économies et, d'autre part, à la restructuration interne de l'emploi, observée dans plusieurs secteurs d'activités économiques. Une deuxième grande tendance d'évolution marque l'emploi de la région, soit une requalification des structures professionnelles. Contrairement à la bipolarisation, elle touche principalement les zones centrales du territoire.
