Abstract
À l’instar des autres provinces canadiennes, le Nouveau-Brunswick est particulièrement affecté par le vieillissement de sa population. Si les conséquences négatives liées à ce phénomène ont retenu l’attention de plusieurs chercheurs, force est de reconnaître que les impacts positifs du vieillissement en matière de développement territorial ont fait l’objet d’un nombre beaucoup plus réduit de travaux. Le but de cet article consiste, à partir de quatre notions centrales dans le domaine du développement territorial, à examiner si un modèle d’habitation issu de la sphère privée peut avoir des répercussions positives sur la qualité de vie des personnes âgées en milieu rural fragile. Nous nous intéresserons plus spécifiquement au cas de la communauté de Robertville au Nouveau-Brunswick. L’un des intérêts de notre contribution est de montrer en quoi la participation citoyenne des aînés est susceptible de faire contrepoids au discours alarmiste axé sur les effets négatifs liés au vieillissement.
