Abstract
Cet article traite d'une stratégie de formation que la Table de concertation des Organismes de Montréal au service des Réfugiés a développée, dès 1990, auprès des travailleurs sociaux d'organismes non gouvernementaux offrant aux nouveaux arrivants des services d'accueil et d'aide à l'établissement et à l'adaptation. Le terme « nouveaux arrivants » comprend la distinction entre immigrants et réfugiés et tient compte du fait que des membres de communautés implantées au Québec depuis plus longtemps peuvent encore avoir recours à de tels services. Les travailleurs sociaux de ces organismes sont permanents ou temporaires, stagiaires ou bénévoles. Leurs champs d'intervention sont aussi variés : aide à se trouver un logement et du mobilier, assistance dans les démarches auprès des services de l'immigration, informations sur les différents services publics (école, santé, services sociaux, etc.) ou référence aux services spécialisés pertinents. En bref, l'intervention des travailleurs sociaux communautaires a un caractère composite et polyvalent. Dorénavant, j'emploierai le terme « intervenant » pour les nommer (le masculin inclut le féminin). La stratégie de formation dont il sera question cherche à favoriser la communication et le contact entre des protagonistes ne partageant pas les mêmes valeurs, la même vision du monde.
