En el articulo se analizan los origenes y la implementacion del proyecto del gobierno del Primer Ministro John G. Diefenbaker durante el sexenio 1957-1963 para el desarrollo del norte de Canada conocido popularmente como la Northern Vision (la Vision del Norte). Se examinan los diversos motivos para la adopcion de la Vision –que constituia parte de un proyecto mucho mas grande para el desarrollo de la nacion en general–, como la parte principal del programa electoral del Progressive Conservative Party, PCP (Partido Conservador Progresista), en 1958, asi como la influencia de Diefenbaker y sus asesores principales (Alvin Hamilton, Cerril W. Menzies y Roy Faibish) con respecto a su elaboracion. Se enfoca, en particular, sobre el programa llamado Roads to Resources, que fue visto como la clave para el desarrollo y poblamiento del norte canadiense. Se concluye con una evaluacion de su impacto en las decadas posteriores sobre la politica federal referente al norte y la formacion de la identidad de los canadienses como pueblo
