Abstract
Cet article porte sur le titre des oeuvres littéraires dans la perspective du lecteur. Après un bref état de la question, il aborde la problématique du titre et de ses effets de lecture. Avec divers exemples, dont certaines réactions de lecteurs, il montre comment les titres enclenchent une activité d’interprétation qui recourt à l’imaginaire. Une section importante est consacrée à l’étude de l’appareil titulaire dans le célèbre roman de Machado de Assis, Dom Casmurro.
