Abstract
Nous décrivons dans cet article le développement et la mise en place de la participation aux bénéfices, une technique innovatrice de motivation et de prise en charge à l'intention des malades mentaux chroniques en réadaptation psychiatrique. Cette intervention ressemble à une économie de jetons à bien des égards; pour leur participation au programme, les patients - appelés ici membres - sont rémunérés en bons de papier qu'ils peuvent échanger contre des récompenses. Contrairement aux économies de jetons, toutefois, le système de participation aux bénéfices est financé, administré et supervisé par les membres du programme. Ceci a l'avantage d'augmenter l'intérêt et la participation en permettant aux membres de garder les récompenses que leurs efforts leur ont rapportées. Les résultats d'une étude portant sur cinq ans indiquent que la participation aux bénéfices fait augmenter le nombre de participants au programme, l'assistance quotidienne moyenne et le taux de réussite professionnelle.
