Abstract
The acute breathing infections (IRA) constitute one of the main problems of health, the first morbidity cause and consultations, as well as one of the first five causes of death in all the ages. In our country he/she has had important variations in the last 30 years, in such a way that places us with similar figures to the developed countries. In America, only Canada and United States overcome us lightly in some items, but our figures are very similar to those of both countries. The general strategies in the prevention and in the treatment of the breathing acute infections are based in: to evaluate the existent knowledge systematically about these infections, to disclose them and to apply them, to develop a national guide for the indications of the antibiotics, to apply the existent vaccines, to increase the immunization against the neumococo and the influenzavirus, particularly in groups of risk, to develop and to evaluate new vaccines against Hemophilus influenzae non serotypefiable.
