Abstract
Au vu des résultats d’une enquête sociologique portant sur l’incidence du hip-hop sur la persévérance scolaire, nous questionnons l’intérêt des hip-hoppeurs québécois à l’égard de la politique institutionnalisée. L’analyse des valeurs intériorisées et véhiculées par ces jeunes nous a amenée à nous rendre compte qu’il existe un désintérêt réel par rapport à l’univers politique, que l’on parle d’implication ou de la place accordée aux revendications politiques. La culture hip-hop a une longue tradition de revendication et d’activisme, et la conscientisation a toujours été l’un des thèmes centraux dans les disciplines artistiques. Cependant, dans le cas présent, l’expérience hip-hop se vit comme un espace de création dont la préoccupation majeure est l’épanouissement de soi au moyen de la création artistique et le désir d’intégrer l’industrie culturelle. Dans ce cas-ci, l’intérêt politique ne va pas de pair avec l’appartenance hip-hop.
