Abstract
Parmi les ditférents écrits de la Bibliothèque copte de Nag Hammadi qui furent vraisemblablement composés entre le début du I I e siècle et la première moitié du IV e siècle de notre ère, certains développent des traditions sur les femmes du Nouveau Testament,dont le rôle est amplifié alors qu'il est au contraire plutôt minimisé dans les textes des autres communautés chrétiennes primitives. Ces textes coptes, appelés «gnostiques», soulignent par exemple, sur un ton polémique, la préférence marquée du Sauveur pour Marie-Madeleine au détriment de Pierre. On peut ainsi y déceler l'indice d'une polémique contre le type de christianisme qui s'appuyait sur la figure de Pierre, ce dernier symbolisant, semble-t-il, pour eux, une Église qui trouvait gênante l'autorité attribuée à une femme, alors qu'on organisait un ministère masculin. Cet intérêt particulier porté aux figures féminines du Nouveau Testamentdécoule d'une conception androgynique de Dieu qui est présente en plusieurs traités gnostiques.
