Abstract
Dans cet article, nous présentons un modèle théorique de l’impact de la réduction de la semaine de travail sur la demande de travailleurs. Le modèle permet en particulier l’endogénéisation de la décision de l’entreprise d’embaucher à temps supplémentaire. Les effets de substitution et d’échelle associés à cette politique sont mis en évidence à l’aide des théorèmes de dualité en présence de rationnement. Les simulations présentées illustrent clairement les limites dans le potentiel de création d’emploi de cette politique, dans le contexte d’une petite économie ouverte comme le Québec.
