Abstract
The Athabasca Transmission System was first energized on October 20, 1988. Bus voltage measurements provided by remote telemetry during the energization process showed values for the fundamental frequency voltages that were within 1% of predicted values. Voltage recordings provided by transient fault data recorders indicate that the harmonic overvoltages that occurred on system energization compared well with the EMTP (Electromagnetic Transients Program) simulations. For full load rejections that have occurred on the system since its commissioning, the automatic voltage regulators (AVRs) have successfully controlled the voltages.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
