Abstract
La crise planétaire de l'environnement a été provoquée par la civilisation moderne, laquelle repose en dernière instance sur le parti ontologique de la modernité, instauré au XVIIe siècle (mais dont les racines sont anciennes). Ce parti suppose un être limité au topos "corps animal : personne individuelle" et l'oppose à un monde objet, c'est-à-dire qu'il abstrait cet être de la chôra (i.e. du milieu) qui en réalité non seulement rend possible son existence, mais fait structurellement partie de cet être même. Ce topos ontologique fait de l'éthique environnementale un oxymore, engendrant toutes sortes d'acrobaties intellectuelles pour arriver à justifier rationnellement le sentiment profond qui pousse l'être humain à s'identifier à son milieu, alors que, dans un tel parti, cette identification est irrationnelle, et que toute la civilisation que ce parti a fondée pousse au contraire à surexploiter indéfiniment ce milieu réduit à un objet. Dans la révision déchirante qui s'impose aujourd'hui, l'éthique réclame avant tout une révolution de l'être, dépassant le stade historique du topos ontologique moderne pour reconnaître une réalité forclose : la médiance de l'humain, c'est-à-dire le couplage structurel du topos de notre corps individuel et de la chôra de notre milieu, qui ensemble font de nous des êtres humains et par là même nous poussent à un comportement éthique envers la Terre.
