Abstract
Student absenteeism has long been a source of interest for educators, administrators, parents, and the popular press (Epstein, et al., 2002; Longhurst, 1999; Roby, 2004). There is no doubt that absenteeism is an extremely important phenomenon because of the long term effects on students and society in general. But what are some of the reasons why students absent themselves from various classes? This study examines some the students' perceptions of why they are absent from class.
