Abstract
Le traitement de substitution avec méthadone a beaucoup évolué au Québec dans la dernière décennie et une variété de modalités d’intervention s’est développée en fonction des besoins et des attentes de la clientèle ; ce traitement suppose la participation de plusieurs professionnels à un travail d’équipe et nécessite donc une concertation autour des objectifs visés par la modalité d’intervention offerte. De son côté, l’approche de la réduction des méfaits a augmenté la crédibilité ainsi que la popularité du traitement de substitution avec méthadone ; elle semble cependant engendrer une certaine confusion sur le plan des objectifs, des moyens et des finalités du traitement. Les différentes modalités d’intervention découlant de cette double constatation doivent être intégrées dans un continuum de services afin de répondre adéquatement aux multiples besoins de la clientèle.
