Abstract
Il est connu de plusieurs qu’Ottawa a ete la ville hote de la famille royale des Pays-Bas durant la Seconde guerre mondiale. En 1945, a la fin de ce conflit, la reine Juliana offrait 100 000 bulbes de tulipes a la ville en reconnaissance de l’asile dont la famille royale a beneficie et du role des troupes canadiennes dans la liberation des Pays-Bas. Encore aujourd’hui, Ottawa commemore cet evenement a chaque annee avec son festival des tulipes au debut du mois de mai. Il est en revanche beaucoup moins connu que, a la meme epoque, Montreal a ete la ville hote de la famille grand-ducale de Luxembourg et le siege du gouvernement luxembourgeois en exil. Cet article tente de presenter les motivations qui ont amene les exiles a choisir Montreal, a faire etudier leurs enfants a l’Universite Laval, au College des Jesuites de Quebec et au College Jesus-Marie de Sillery, et a parler des liens qui les unissaient avec l’imperatrice Zita et la famille imperiale d’Autriche-Hongrie qui avait trouve exil a Quebec.
