Abstract
• \oiis on n'a pas d'entants, on ajuste nos ancêtres... •• Les célibats laïcs et religieux dans le comté de Cliarlevoix an Québec 11900-19601 Cet article traite des différents types de célibat, laïc et religieux, du point de vue de la dynamique familiale. Outre l'exclusion, il met en évidence les réseaux économiques et politiques ouverts par certaines formes de célibat, et suggère de mettre en parallèle formes d'alliance et de célibat. L'étude couvre une période qui s'échelonne du début du siècle jusqu'aux années I960. Les sources sont constituées de généalogies orales, d'un recensement et d'entretiens libres sur le sujet. Le célibat définitif a été établi (arbitrairement) à 35 ans pour les femmes et à 50 ans pour les hommes.
