Abstract

This study tests a self-determination model of teachers’ self-perceptions of performance. The model hypothesizes psychological health as a mediator between the satisfaction of basic psychological needs (competence, autonomy, and relatedness) and teachers’ task performance. Structural equation modeling performed on cross-sectional data collected from 292 teachers lends its support to the hypothesized model. Results also suggest a direct link between satisfaction of the need for competence and performance.
