Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The Ohio Northern University College of Engineering is teaching a course in probability and statistics which has been an integral part of the undergraduate engineering program for nearly 20 years. The basic concepts of probability and statistics which are essential to engineers are taught in a three-credit-hour one-quarter course. The course emphasizes applications of principles of data analysis and decision making and is taught with minimal discussion of theoretical concepts, except when students ask why. In recent years the course has been modified to include practice-oriented problems and computer use. The statistical package Minitab is used for manipulation and analysis of data collected during experimentation or observation. The authors discuss course objectives, assignments, increased computer usage, and student response to the course.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
