Abstract
Ante la actual configuración de la relación estado-universidades-sociedad, las universidades nacionales deben rendir cuentas externas ante quienes tienen intereses en ellas suministrando información objetiva. Pero, además, deben desarrollar internamente procesos de planificación y control acordes a las actuales demandas. Surge entonces el problema de diseñar sistemas de información para la gestión adaptados a las particulares características de estas organizaciones. En relación a esta problemática se ha diseñado un modelo de costos basado en la actividad para el ámbito universitario, el cual fue experimentado en la Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo describir los aspectos generales del modelo diseñado, como así también, fundamentar la importancia que el mismo tiene, en la metodología de la cadena de valor, para el planeamiento y el control estratégico.
