Abstract
St. Michael's Church in the Mile End district of Montreal offers a rich \nexample of cultural hybridity. A close reading of the architecture and social \nhistory of the church suggests, however, the complexity of the elements and \nvalues of cultural mixing and the need for careful contextualization. The \narticle argues that, if the term hybridity is to be useful, its parameters must be \ncontinually redefined.
