Abstract
Cet article dresse un bilan des développements récents en histoire urbaine au Canada. Au cours des dernières années, les travaux ont porté sur différents aspects de la vie urbaine : logement, travail, culture, ethnicité, etc. En dépit de la fragmentation du champ disciplinaire, il est possible de regrouper les questionnements en quatre thématiques principales : Vétude du processus de suburbanisation, la question de Vethnicité et des classes sociales, la redéfinition des rapports hommes/femmes et sa portée eu égard à l’usage de l’espace urbain, la question de la gouverne et du pouvoir. Ces choix thématiques sont analogues à ceux qu’on retrouve dans le domaine des études urbaines, champ interdisciplinaire où les études culturelles, ethniques et féministes sont employées pour comprendre le fait urbain contemporain.
