Abstract
Cet article documente le processus de restructuration des rapports entre l’Université, la recherche universitaire et l’État dans le contexte de la « société des savoirs » et de sa gouvernance au Canada. Considéré comme la condition indispensable d’un accroissement de la compétitivité des économies nationales, ce processus met à mal l’autonomie universitaire et la fonction de production de recherche fondamentale de l’Université en ce qu’il oriente les thèmes et les priorités de la recherche. Les points de vue sur ce sujet sont divisés entre divers acteurs qui contrôlent le « champ » de la production de recherche. Depuis sa création, Lien social et Politiques a souvent traité des questions suscitées aujourd’hui par l’insertion de la recherche universitaire dans la « société des savoirs ».
