Des intervenants et des gestionnaires issus de différents milieux se sont associés à des chercheurs dans une recherche-action auprès d’informateurs clés. Cette recherche exploratoire visait à combler le manque de données pouvant aider à comprendre le vécu des familles d’enfants d’âge préscolaire et scolaire en milieu rural. En particulier, on voulait préciser les caractéristiques des municipalités d’un territoire rural favorables ou non favorables au bien-être des familles. On a ainsi rencontré 42 informateurs clés en entrevues semi-dirigées. Les résultats montrent des facteurs : 1) propres aux milieux, qualifiés de plus ou moins ruraux en fonction de la densité de population, et 2) propres aux familles selon leur degré d’enracinement dans leur milieu. Ces résultats sont discutés en termes de profils familiaux et de pauvreté.
