Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Most of the early vision processes in vertebrate vision systems are performed within receptive fields of the retina. Building silicon retina IC's has been attempted in the past, but they have not reached a satisfactory conclusion due to technology constraints. Targeting a wafer-size smart vision sensor, we focus in this paper on researching the VLSI implementation of different receptive fields with dedicated functions. The Microelectronic Receptive Field (MERF) is defined as a functional block of the larger system, performing a preprogrammed operation on visual input signals. Results from VLSI chips with various integrated implementations of receptive fields are presented.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
