Le présent article tente d’ouvrir la sémiotique narrative à la question, délaissée jusqu’ici pour des raisons presque idéologiques, des valeurs exprimées par l’action. Il veut montrer que, bien que l’action soit définie par l’intention, le récit, c’est-à-dire la représentation d’action, n’est pas une pratique discursive unique, fondée sur la seule mise en évidence de l’intention de l’agent ; tout différemment, il existe d’autres types de récits – dont les récits axiologiques. L’argument consiste à montrer, sur pièce, l’existence de récits axiologiques dans la fiction littéraire, à décrire des sémiotiques narratives qui ont développé un appareillage conceptuel très puissant et opératoire pour l’analyse du récit intentionnel, mais qui ne parviennent pas à saisir le récit axiologique, et à faire quelques propositions pour cette nécessaire sémiotique narrative axiologique.
