L’enseignement de l’orthographe est complexe et présente des difficultés particulières. L’ensemble des notions à enseigner est très important. Différentes méthodes d’enseignement de l’orthographe ont pour objet de motiver l’élève à la correction orthographique; d’autres contiennent divers modes de présentation didactique des règles grammaticales. Par contre, peu ont pour objet de faire acquérir une structure mentale efficace et généralisable à l’ensemble des règles de l’orthographe grammaticale. Une pédagogie de l’orthographe basée sur une démarche algorithmique pourrait offrir une voie acceptable à la résolution de problèmes d’orthographe grammaticale.
