Abstract
Tel qu'il est conçu dans le discours théorique, le film est généralement considéré comme une entité abstraite, dont la copie et les conditions de projections sont sous-entendues comme étant idéales. Le film dont il est question dans l'analyse correspondrait ainsi à ce qu'on appellera le film-type, le film comme énoncé pris indépendamment des conditions de son énonciation (sa projection ou son visionnement). Dans cet article, il sera plutôt question du film comme support fondamentalement temporel, pris dans les circonstances concrètes de son énonciation et soumis aux conditions d'altération, de transformation, de détérioration, que de nombreux facteurs (à commencer par l'usure du temps) imposent à la matérialité même de ce que nous appellerons le film-token.
