Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

We present branching fraction measurements of charged and neutral $B$ decays to $D{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, ${D}^{*}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, and $``{D}^{**}''{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ with a missing mass method, based on a sample of $231\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(4S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}B\overline{B}$ pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider. One of the $B$ mesons is fully reconstructed and the other one decays to a reconstructed charged $\ensuremath{\pi}$ and a companion charmed meson identified by its recoil mass, inferred by kinematics. Here ``${D}^{**}$'' refers to the sum of all the nonstrange charm meson states with masses in the range $2.2--2.8\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/{c}^{2}$. We measure the branching fractions: $\mathcal{B}({B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}})=(4.49\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.21\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.23)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$, $\mathcal{B}({B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}^{*0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}})=(5.13\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.22\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.28)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$, $\mathcal{B}({B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}``{D}^{**0}''{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}})=(5.50\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.52\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.04)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$, $\mathcal{B}({\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}})=(3.03\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.23\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.23)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$, $\mathcal{B}({\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}^{*+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}})=(2.99\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.23\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.24)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$, $\mathcal{B}({\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}``{D}^{**+}''{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}})=(2.34\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.65\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.88)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$, and their ratios.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
