Abstract
II est question dans ce texte de la psychothérapie de soutien. Cette approche un peu «fourre-tout» est souvent discréditée, même si, dans le réseau de la santé mentale, elle est très largement utilisée. Il nous paraît donc important de cerner davantage cette approche et de tenter de définir la notion de soutien en psychothérapie; quelles sont en second lieu les indications que l'on peut identifier pour proposer une telle approche? Quelles sont les techniques correspondant à cette approche et enfin, quels sont les résultats que l'on peut en escompter? Ce texte se veut une amorce de réflexion qui intègre un certain nombre de lectures sur le sujet et qui se réfère à une expérience clinique fondée sur une pratique de psychiatrie de secteur.
