Abstract
Cet article examine la conception simmelienne du rapport entre histoire et sociologie, afin de déterminer si elle peut nous aider à penser la spécificité épistémologique de l’histoire. Il retrace à cette fin les définitions de la science historique successivement adoptées par Simmel. Elle est d’abord conçue comme premier niveau de la connaissance dans les sciences de l’homme, puis comme science régie par un type spécifique d’a priori, celui de l’individualité. L’histoire apparaît enfin, quoiqu’il ait moins développé ce point, comme science de l’historicité des phénomènes sociaux, en tant que son objet ne se laisse pas ramener aux actions réciproques dont traite la sociologie simmelienne.
