Abstract
Cet article se penche sur le personnage d’Émilie Bordeleau, figure principale de la très populaire télésérie Les Filles de Caleb diffusée au Québec entre octobre 1990 et février 1991. Il présente sommairement les modèles usuels d’héroïsme au féminin apparus avec l’émergence des sociétés bourgeoises, puis, en pêchant dans le contenu de la télésérie, montre comment et pourquoi le personnage d’Émilie était à la fois fidèle à ces modèles et en rupture avec eux, c’est-à-dire profondément moderne sous une enveloppe traditionnelle. Finalement, l’article suggère une lecture à deux niveaux de ce personnage en liaison avec le contexte sociopolitique de diffusion de la télésérie marqué par l’ébullition nationaliste post-Meech du Québec français.
